A big thanks to 2012

As we ring in the New Year, we would like to extend a big thanks to the many people who made our work possible this year.

Through the work of 2,457 volunteers working 8,648.15 hours, we were able to grow and distribute 26,700.73 pounds of fresh, nutritious produce from our two farms – the Seattle Community Farm and the Lettuce Link Giving Garden at Marra Farm. We were also able to harvest and donate 13,319 pounds of fruit harvested from community members’ fruit trees throughout the Seattle area. Many hands were busy at work!

Our good friends in the P-Patch community throughout Seattle also spent countless hours growing and harvesting produce from their sites for donation to food banks throughout Seattle. Thanks to their dedication and hard work, an additional 25,530.39 pounds of produce was grown and distributed!

Thanks to the many organizations that donated seeds and the volunteers who helped pack additional seeds, we were able to distribute 7,720 seed packets to 2,654 individuals and their families. And a special thanks to our dedicated volunteers who grow plant starts for distribution and for use on the farm. Those individuals and their families were then able to grow their own fresh produce at home! And many thanks to the organizations that donated seeds packed for 2012 – with the 8,652 seed packets donated in 2012 we are well on our way to growing fresh, nutritious produce at our farms, P-Patches and in our backyards for the 2013 growing season.

More 2012 highlights and volunteer appreciation to come…

Happy 2013!
